Lions Cade Wilson (#27) and Ron
Erwin (#24) were absent and Lion Brad Baker (#50) was the winner of
the Tail Twister’s pot. We had no guests this week and our
attendance was 22 members. Bring some guests next week. We pay
Western Sizzlin for 35 meals each week.
Lion Bill Hester is at home
recuperating from thoracic surgery. Give him a call.
At our Dyeann’s House this
Thursday, November 18th, there will be a drop in open
house appreciation chili dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. All Lions are
welcome and any other supporters of Dyeann’s house.
If you are planning to attend
the Christmas party, on December 14th at the Imperial
Dinner Theater, in Pocahontas, you need to make reservations with
Lion Ken Helman and pay $18.35 per person by December 1st.
This price includes tax and gratuity.
Lion Bill Dickens says the pecan
sales are going good and that next week he will have a limited
supply of English Walnuts to sell.
This was our monthly business
meeting with acting secretary Lion Brad Baker reading the minutes of
the November 11th Board of Directors meeting, (everyone
enjoyed the humor of the board meeting minutes) and also Lion
Treasurer Vern Drake gave the financial report which stated a bank
balance of $6,056.59 with $1,842.33 in the Operating Fund and
$4,214.26 in the Activity Fund.
Lion President Eric asked
several members to tell why they are Lions and we heard some good
testimonies from the members as to what Lionism means to them.
The Trumann Lions Club was
chartered on January 25,1930 and will be celebrating their 75th
anniversary on January 6, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. The visiting speaker
from Lions International will be First Vice President Ashok Mehta
Mumbai, India. We will want to have a good delegation from our club
for this event.
Remember this Friday, November
19thour club will be collecting at Wal-Mart for the
Salvation Army. Call Lion Pat Snodgrass for a time to work.
Lion Tommy White has two good
programs scheduled for the next two meetings. Next week our speaker
will be David Long with the AR Game and Fish Commission and on
Nov.30th, we will have Mr. Bruce Burrow to tell us about the Mall at
Turtle Creek. This will be a good time to invite a guest and
prospective member.
