monthly business meeting of the
University Heights Lions Club was held
at 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 at Chef’s In,
the normal meeting place. The meeting
was called to order by Lion President
Jim Watkins at 6:53 a.m. after most
everyone had completed breakfast.
Twister, Lion Bill Dickens who is also
chairman of the annual pecan sales, had
several cases of pecans on had for club
members to pick up and sell. He also
conducted the pot drawing, which was
garnered by Lion Bill Levins, Badge No.
39. Lion Don Vineyard led the song; Lion
Dave Redmon the pledge and Lion Ron
Erwin the prayer.
TV Auction will be on Saturday, Dec. 13.
More items are needed as well as
sponsorships; Nuts (pecans etc.) are
here at $8 a bag; meetings on Dec. 23
and 30 will not be held because the
restaurant will be closed and the club
Christmas party will be on Dec. 9 or 16
at a location to be announced.
Treasurer Ron Erwin presented the
financial report, copies of which were
handed out to each club member;
Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce
dues of $120 are due and approved by the
club for payment and it was announced
that the Jonesboro City Advertising and
Promotions Commission has awarded the
club $6,000 to be used in promoting its
annual Jonesboro Car Show. Previous
years the Commission provided $10,000.
