The regular meeting of the Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club was
called to order at 6:45 a.m. by Lion President Robert Bahn. The meeting was
held at the Chef's In Buffet Breakfast Meeting Room. There were 18 present,
including the speaker, Heather Holmes, marketing director for Abilities
Unlimited and prospective member (of the club that is), and Frank Wasko, who
turned in his membership application [and check!].
Lion Tail Twister Brad Baker led off with a series of jokes and other
entertainment followed by the pot drawing which was won again by Lion Pat
Snodgrass, badge No.31. Song leader Lion Tommy White led in song, the pledge
by Lion Bill Dickens and the prayer by Lion Ken Stallings.
Announcements: Sign-up was urged for the club Christmas Banquet, to be held
at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Fat City Grill; Lion Bill Dickens urged
getting nuts as they are going fast; no regular morning meeting next Tuesday
[the Christmas banquet is that night], the monthly Board meeting will be on
Thursday, Dec. 12 at 6:30 am, and the monthly club Business Meeting will be
on Tuesday, Dec. 17, following.
Speaker Holmes talked about the work done by Abilities Unlimited over the
past 50 years. This year is the 50th anniversary of AU in Jonesboro. She
was introduced by December program chairman Lion Jim Watkins.
UPDATE: The Jonesboro Lions' annual TV Auction scheduled to be held
Saturday, Dec. 7, has been postponed due to inclement (understatement)
updates - and/or start bidding on items.
